The Fourrts India (Laboratories) Pvt Ltd, one among the leading pharmaceutical companies in Chennai, will soon launch about six new drugs in the market.
The new products will be in the field of wound care, congestive obstructive pulmonary diseases, neuropathy and in the field of anti-diabetes. At present, Fourtts has about 30 to 40 fast moving products, and about 170 registrations in different countries. The company has set up various divisions for ophthalmology, gastro enterology and general prescription medicines. Further, the company has set up a separate division called Network and Fourtts herbo minerals to stress on nutraceuticals and herbal medicines, S V Veeramani, Chairman and Managing Director of Fourrts India told Pharmabiz.com
He said some of the fast moving products of Fourtts include Fourtts B vitamin B complex tablet, Redin Plus haematinic capsule, Redin PN postnatal tonic, Foliden folic acid capsules, Fertibex, Fourts B, Gilfil M, Gliclan M and Seltoc AC in the diabetology segment, about 10 products in the gynaecology segment, six in the gastro enterology area, four in ophthalmology and about eight in the general category. The company has also established its presence in the international markets with a wide array of capsules, tablets, oral liquids, ointments and creams.
Veeramani said the company has a strong presence in 14 countries of the European, Latin American, South-East Asian and African markets like UK, Germany, Dominican Republic, Columbia, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, South Africa etc. The company is in the process of penetrating to at least 10 new countries in these continents like Uganda, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Tanzania etc., this year.
Fourrts, started in 1977, has been growing at a rate of 40 to 50 per cent in the last two years, and in order to cater to the demand, the company was plan-ning to set up two more plants within a few years. One plant would be an advanced facility conforming to USFDA standards, said Veeramani. The company was awarded ISO 9001: 2000 by BVQI, UK, and has received several awards, including the IDMA Quality Excellence award for 2002 and 2003.
